Emerging from the ashes

In July 2007 an arson attack on the building next door to the premises of Carona Reuter Industrial in Dagenham, Essex, destroyed the company's warehouse.

Also destroyed was its stock of products that it supplies as a 'master distributor' for Emhart Teknologies. These include POP rivets, nutrunners, springs, aerospace and defence fasteners and fixings, nuts, bolts, screws, and sheet metal fasteners. Nick Roberts, CRI, reports that construction of a new warehouse and offices has begun and that "if everything goes to plan the company should be established in its new building by the end of October 2008". Four days after the fire CRI was able to move into temporary premises only 500 metres from the building that was destroyed "enabling us to carry on with business as usual", explains Nick Roberts. "After a testing year we are hopeful that the growth we have achieved will continue into 2009." Carona Reuter Industrial will be exhibiting at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions Show, National Motorcycle Museum, 23 October.
