The tesa Converting Centre, based in Hamburg employs over 100 staff and is a strategically important part of the company's automotive business unit.

tesa's contribution to the advances in the automotive sector has been considerable, with the use of adhesive tapes as bonding, joining and fixing solutions delivering benefits in more efficient production and lighter weight when compared to mechanical fixings. The company is now focusing on extending these benefits to cover a wider range of applications than ever before, helping automotive designers respond to the latest trends and also provide engineering solutions to a worldwide market. Focusing on producing precision die-cuts and application solution engineering (ASE), the centre works with manufacturers of dispensers or robots to develop optimised application solutions. For example, in 2013 84 projects were successfully concluded in the field of ASE, an increase of 47% over the previous year, with the number of die-cuts produced passing the one billion mark. The Converting Centre is part of the company's overall approach to developing high-tech tapes and constantly seeking new adhesive solutions. The company is showcasing its latest developments to automotive manufacturers, engineers and designers at various international locations via a series of technical days, where participants can see for themselves what the various tapes can do and identify potential new fields of application. Later this year tesa UK will be hosting a number of these events at the premises of leading motor manufacturers across the country to strengthen relationships with their industry partners and seek out new opportunities.
