Connecting gardening equipment

You may have had a chance of cheating the showers and getting out into the garden over the holiday weekend so spare a thought for the garden equipment manufacturer and how all weather equipment is made.

As one of Britain's favourite gardening suppliers, Hozelock continually invests in updating its comprehensive product portfolio. The latest addition to the Aquastop connector range uses Telsonic ultrasonic technology, integrated within a semi-automated rotary indexing machine, to complete the final assembly operations. Configured as a compact bench-mounted system, the machine, designed and manufactured by Telsonic, incorporates a 4 station rotary indexing unit to allow the operator to load component parts whilst the machine welds the components and unloads finished parts. Operator safety is ensured using a fully interlocked flap guard at the component loading station. The Acetal body and washer components are ultrasonically welded together using a single head Telsonic USP400 weld press, powered by the SGM3512/SE3512 generator and converter system. The ultrasonic system monitors each weld against a set of tight tolerance pre-determined parameters in conjunction with a pick and place unit which delivers parts to an output area and segregates any weld outside the parameters into a reject chute. Telsonic UK tells us that optimum joint design combined with precision weld monitoring provide consistent quality. The company has worked closely with Hozelock engineers to develop the optimum joint design, ensuring the quality and consistency required during the welding process. The machine, now in production at Hozelock's Birmingham facility offers a simple, ergonomic and cost effective solution to the production of what is likely become a high volume product for Hozelock. Telsonic UK offers a comprehensive range of ultrasonic modules and systems for a variety of welding, sealing, food cutting, textile cutting and cleaning applications.
