COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP TO FIND ENGINEERS OF THE FUTURE

Consulting engineering firm Morgan Tucker has formed a partnership with Lincoln University Technical College (UTC) in a programme to seek out the award-winning engineers of the future.

The firm has become an 'employer-partner' to the college, which means it will support students at the college interested in a career in engineering to get their foot in the door of the industry from an early age. Lincoln UTC provides 14 to 18-year-olds with the unique opportunity of combining core subjects, for example in maths and English, with highly specialised studies in engineering and science. Managing director Matthew Tucker said the new partnership reflected the values at the core of his firm, which has its head office in Newark. "At Morgan Tucker we are passionate about ensuring engineering is seen as an exciting and rewarding career for the next generation of school leavers, and we are keen to meet with and get to know as many would-be engineers as possible", he commented. "Our new partnership with Lincoln UTC means that this passion can be put in to action." As employer partners, Morgan Tucker is closely involved in the design and delivery of the science and engineering elements of the curriculum at the college. Each course module is delivered hand-in-hand with Morgan Tucker, ensuring that the academic and technical education delivered to students is relevant and up to date. This allows students to experience the theoretical elements of their courses in academic and practical ways. Tucker added: "Engineering and science offer students strong career opportunities in the future - locally, nationally and internationally. Our link with the college is a positive step for young engineers in the area and will offer them the business and technical skills they need to get them ready for the workplace. "We are looking forward to being immersed in and closely involved with the design and delivery of the engineering elements of the curriculum at Lincoln UTC for years to come," he concluded. Morgan Tucker is an award winning independent consulting engineering business with an ambitious growth strategy. With a head office in Newark, it now has offices in London and Leeds. Established in 2005, the company originally provided specialist highway, transport and infrastructure related services but has since expanded to become a multi-disciplined engineering consultancy Morgan Tucker's projects have included the design and delivery of the freight logistics for the Olympic Park, the engineering services for the Embassy Gardens development.
