Catheter adhesive is LED curable for lower energy consumption and reduced costs

The latest in a series of Dymax adhesives to be formulated with both Ultra-Red and patented See-Cure technologies is designed for use in catheter assembly and offers excellent bond strength to a variety of substrates including platinum and polycarbonate, two substrates commonly used in next-generation catheter designs for the treatment of hypertension.

While in its uncured state, this See-Cure adhesive is blue in colour for easy verification of adhesive placement. As the product cures with sufficient exposure to UV light, its blue colour transitions to colourless and provides obvious visual confirmation that the adhesive is fully cured and the bond site secure. Designated 212-CTH-UR-SC, the adhesive also fluoresces bright red under low-intensity black light (365 nm), contrasting extremely well on plastics that naturally fluoresce blue in colour. The Ultra-Red fluorescing technology allows manufacturers to incorporate automated or manual quality inspection to verify complete and accurate placement of the adhesive after cure. Designed to be LED optimised, the product will cure in less than three seconds after exposure to LED or broad-spectrum UV light. Optimal cure time can be achieved by using this product in conjunction with a Dymax LED light-curing system, designed to provide users with significant advantages over conventional lamp-curing systems including cooler curing temperatures, more consistent cure results, lower intensity degradation over time, lower energy consumption, and reduced costs.
