BCF appoints new VP

John Falder managing director of HMG Paints has been elected vice president of the British Coatings Federation's (BCF). Falder is currently chairman of BCF's Industrial Coatings Council and BCF Vehicle Refinish Group, has had an active role in the BCF for 27 years and has been at the forefront of a number of BCF projects, including apprentice training schemes, environmental and sustainability programmes, and a number of health and safety initiatives.

During John's 20 year tenure as managing director, HMG Paints has grown to become the largest independent speciality coatings manufacturer in the UK. Based in Manchester, and with 83 years experience in the coatings industry, HMG Paints has expanded to incorporate sites and associates across the world. Commenting on his new role, Falder said : "The BCF's role is increasingly important at a time of ongoing dynamic change within our industry and I am utterly delighted to assist further in the good work being carried out by the BCF." Falder has a number of important areas of focus: "The BCF is fully engaged in the exciting opportunities raised by employer ownership funding of training and I expect the organisation to play a very important role in this progressive initiative. Our BCF training modules are outstanding development programmes and we are keen to continue to raise standards across our already world class coatings industry".
