tesa’s residue-free, single-use removable foam adhesive tape takes a five-layered approach to eliminating adhesive tape residue

tesa has launched its first residue-free, single-use removable foam adhesive tape, “optimising processing and performance in a range of applications”, it reports. “The newly developed tesa 65610 Removable eliminates adhesive tape residue, with a special PET reinforcement film that allows quick, easy and complete removal,” the company adds.

tesa 65610 is described as a versatile adhesive tape, providing high initial and ultimate bonding power, even on critical substrates, with an excellent conformability that is said to even out imperfections. With a thickness of 1.25mm, the white tape consists of five layers:

  • A release liner (Glassine paper, brown)
  • Adhesive (tackified acrylic)
  • PET reinforcement film
  • PE foam backing
  • Second layer of adhesive (tackified acrylic).

This single-use tape can be applied and removed residue-free once only in a wide range of applications, including mounting of shelf edge ticket strips for retailers and refrigerator LED lighting, as well as temporary signage in POS and decorative elements in furniture applications, to remove bonded parts from non-delaminating surfaces without leaving behind unsightly foam residue, even after extended periods of time.

“This latest addition to tesa’s double-sided foam tape range saves customers time and money, disposing of the need to remove visible foam residue left by conventional tapes and also compensates for irregular surfaces, enabling high bonding power even on rough surfaces and an excellent shock absorption,” according to the company.

tesa UK’s marketing manager Jeremy Smith further comments: “Our track record for product innovation is such that 50% of our sales are achieved on products developed in the last five years, filing around 70 patents every year for new products, processes and technologies. The introduction of tesa 65610 is testament to the company’s commitment to providing customers with innovations that will save them time and costs.”
