Norma Group has equipped the Bolshoy Ice Dome and other buildings in Sochi, Russia, with more than 20,000 pipe connectors from the NormaConnect DCS product range for drainage systems.

The multi-functional arena in the Sochi Olympic Park seats 12,000 spectators and will host inter alia the ice hockey finals of the Olympic Winter Games 2014. Together with a construction firm from St Petersburg, the group has equipped the drainage pipes in the Bolshoy ice palace with Rapid and CV connectors as well as Rekord restraint collars. The pipe connectors from the DCS product range stand out for their space-saving construction. They can also be assembled easily and quickly. The combination of Rapid pipe connector and Rekord restraint collar withstands high pressures under high loads. "Big events such as the Olympic Games represent major challenges for the infrastructure of the venues in question," explained Werner Deggim, CEO of Norma Group. "Our innovative joining technology keeps the pipe systems of highly frequented buildings tight and protects them against water damage even under demanding climatic and functional conditions. The company's pipe connectors have also been used in other buildings for the Olympic Games in Sochi: in the Hyatt Hotel, in the buildings of the Russian International Olympic University and in the MoreMall shopping centre. Overall, a total ten kilometres of drainage pipes has been connected. Norma Group says that its infrastructure product range is used for building and bridge drainage, private ground drainage as well as laboratory and industry sewage. In addition, infrastructure products are used to join feed and recovery lines for gases, fluids and solids in plants, ships, filters and devices, in civil engineering, mining as well as in water supply and distribution.
