Versatile fastener breaks new ground

Maintaining its tradition of reacting to market demand, Avdel has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of two 6.4 mm breakstem fasteners.
Avdel now claims to have one of the most versatile and cost effective blind rivets on the market.
The company suggests that the bulb formation and body geometry of the product create the widest grip range of any bulbing rivet in the market, whilst offering high shear and tensile performance and a wide hole tolerance. A grip range of 1.5 to 9.0 mm is covered using just two part numbers, reducing inventory and enabling greater fastener standardisation.
During installation, the large footprint provided by the blind side bulb formation ensures load spreading - ideal for soft or brittle materials. The bulb formation also helps to create a weather resistant seal for a longer lasting and more reliable joint. It also provides pleasing aesthetics of the installed fasteners, especially in high-end finish applications.
The Avibulb XT has a shear strength of 11.1 kN while the Avinox XT achieves 14.3 kN. These figures have already sparked interest with new applications in a variety of sectors including automotive, truck trailer, heating and ventilation, domestic appliances, industrial equipment and renewable energies.
