Two piece fastener available for fatigue enhancement applications
SPS Technologies Aerospace Fasteners Group has been licensed by PB Fasteners of Gardena, CA, to manufacture SLEEVbolt assemblies – a two-piece assembly used for interference fit applications where fatigue enhancement is required or as a hole fill fastener in composite type applications.
The SLEEVbolt consists of a tapered bolt and an internally tapered flanged outer sleeve for use in straight-sided clearance holes. Interference fit, in proportion to the bolt protrusion, is actuated as the bolt head comes in contact with the structure.
The bolt component is available with a 100º flush or 12-point low profile protruding head configuration. Available materials include nickel alloy 718, titanium and MP35N. The sleeve component is manufactured from corrosion or heat resistant stainless steels. In addition, the mating washer nut assembly is also available in both nickel alloy 718 and A-286 corrosion and heat resistant steel.
