The family-owned TRUMPF Group is a world leading manufacturer of production technology equipment and employs more than 11,000 people in 26 countries. We are well-known in the UK manufacturing industry for our innovative laser and punching machines. However the business started way back in 1923 in a small workshop in Stuttgart, Germany.
The first TRUMPF products were flexible shafts for attachable tools and a motor-driven hand shear for cutting sheet metal, which resulted in an entire product range of electric shears in 1934. In the 1940s, company founder Christian Trumpf decided to build a stationary nibbler and a decade later, the company patented the coordinate guidance system for metal sheets, which was the starting point for the success story of numerical control. In 1960, TRUMPF released electrically-operated handheld nibblers which were a worldwide success.
