Torque wrench

1 min read

Described as one of the most significant new designs of torque tool in its history the TruTorque has been launched by Norbar Toque Tools. "The key objective was to produce a wrench that is durable and will stay in calibration for as long as possible even when used regularly in tough conditions", says Norbar's Philip Brodey.

The wrench uses "an improved mechanism" that retains some of the elements from the original tried and tested design. Adjustment is described as "simplicity itself" with the coarse scale on the handle and a micrometer for fine setting. "Whereas some wrenches need an arm-wrestler to adjust them the new wrench moves with fingertip control over the whole length of the scale." Five models in the range cover 20Nm to 300Nm. All offer bi-directional torque control - stated to be essential for left-hand threads and for controlling the maximum torque when undoing bolts. Ratchets are reversible for ease of positioning and they have a narrow engagement angle for use in tight spaces. The TruTorque is accurate to ±3% of reading, says Philip Brodey, and each is supplied with a traceable calibration certificate. A lock is incorporated to prevent accidental adjustment of the set torque. Meet Norbar at the forthcoming Fastening & Assembly Solutions Exhibition on April 30th.
