Securing steel thread assembly points

Bollhoff Fastenings is offering one-piece, high-performance threaded inserts for mounting high-strength, durable internal threads into low shear strength metals such as aluminium and magnesium alloys.

"Resistance to high torque loading and vibration maintains joint integrity throughout the range of M6 to M30 screw thread assemblies", says managing director Andy Witts. Variants are available from the company with a heat-resistant underhead ring to seal against gas or fluid pressure. The Kobsert thread inserts are installed from one side of the workpiece into a pilot hole within the component. On setting, the external thread form is driven down into the softer host material and the serrated flange bites into the surface to form a flush finish and resist any possibility of rotation or backing-out under dynamic load or extreme temperature. A thread anchorage is thus achieved without the need for additional locking pins or adhesives.
