Secure bolt system

IEC has announced that it has launched the SBS (Secure Bolt System) which it describes as a reusable self-locking system that can be used where a standard bolt, washer, or nut would be required.

"SBS provides a solution for manufacturers that are experiencing the loosening of fasteners in applications that are prone to vibration", explains Peter Keen, sales manager. "It provides a mechanically based, self-locking, reusable fastener system that will not lose torque under high vibration and heat conditions." The company also is promoting a number of other ranges: Fuji bearing lock nuts which offer "secure locking without keyway or tab washer, offering improved shaft strength and balance". Safety and load washers - in a range of materials and finishes - for 1.6mm to 36mm bolts. Disc springs - 12,000 standard and special sizes from 6mm to 250mm outside diameter; also to 1000mm outside diameter and 80mm thick available from stock. Labyrinth sealing rings which are stated to reduce premature bearing failure in dirty and abrasive environments. Miniature ball bearings - up to 125mm outside diameter. IEC will be exhibiting at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions Show, National Motorcycle Museum, 23 October.
