Sealants for electrical and electronic applications

Automotive applications are among the areas in which the new TB1220 series of silicon sealants - available from Three Bond – will provide "major advances in terms of curing speed and storage".

Mick Beeson, ThreeBond, reports that "remarkable improvements have been achieved which make these adhesive sealants especially suited to bonding, fixing, sealing, coating, and potting of electrical and electronic parts, also in sealing connectors, dielectric sealing, and in moisture-proof coating". The products have a minimal effect on metal components because they do not contain alcohol; in addition, they are said to have little effect on plastics. "For example, the TB1222B and the TB1222C sealants in the series offer advantages because the low-molecular siloxane component has been reduced thus avoiding contact failures in micro-motors or in airtight relays and switches. "Heat resistance and hot/cold weather resistance also are benefits making the products suitable for use on printed circuit boards, connectors, etc. in communication and automotive applications Meet Three Bond at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions Exhibition, RAF Museum Cosford, 29th April 2009
