The company’s origins go back to Benedikt Ketterer, who founded his clock-making factory in 1832 in Black Forest, a region in southwest Germany famous for high-precision mechanical systems. From the outset, one of the management's goals has been to be right at the forefront when it came to innovative thinking. The range of products changed over time and, from the middle of the 20th century, the company focused on the development and manufacture of mechanisms for various kinds of sun shades.
For the past 25 years, Ketterer have been making height adjustment mechanisms for office and workshop systems, as well as a wide variety of drive technology components, including motors and controls. An extensive range of Ketterer products is now available from SD Products, which proclaims itself excited to be in business with Ketterer, and hopes to have “a long and successful relationship”.
