Made from carbon spring steel, Locknuts are intended to be spun on by hand. They only require a tool for the final third/half turn, which deforms the spring steel helix and securely locks the assembly.
Small sizes of Locknuts up to M6 can be used independently and eliminate the need to use traditional full nuts in an assembly. This provides a weight saving benefit and reduces production costs, through faster assembly and increased productivity.
Available in a variety of finishes, hot dip galvanised Locknuts are specifically designed for use in harsh environments due to their high-corrosion resistance. They have a proven record through use on electricity pylons and other structural steel assemblies. Despite the extra thick deposit of coating from the galvanising process, these Locknuts are still able to be spun on by hand.
