New tools for faster insertion

Tappex Thread Inserts has simplified the installation of self-tapping fasteners for plastics and metal alloys with the introduction of a range of hand tools, which can make the installation job easier and quicker.

The supplier also suggests that the installer can also expect a more reliable joint when using the new system. The hand tools feature a metric hexagon drive that is more universal than previous square drives, making insertion quicker and easier and it is centred to aid alignment with pillar drill or mill. An O-ring prevents the alignment bush from falling off during use and the nose design allows the insert to be installed to the correct depth. There is a spigot on the nose of the mandrel, which exactly positions the fastener sub-flush with the host material to provide a more reliable joint and the tools can also be used with a tap wrench. The extended nose design enables the tools to be used where access is restricted.
