Making modular manufacturing manageable
Production processes based on modular construction are increasingly employed in vehicle manufacturing. Individual components are supplied to the producer of the end product where they have only to be assembled. To ensure flawless series production certain tolerances are assumed. Böllhoff's automatic tolerance compensation system FLEXITOL® provides a technically and economically optimised solution.
A plastics variant consists of adjustment and fastening elements and is supplied as a subassembly. This is self-tapping and is screwed into a mounting hole in the plastics receiving part. Ideally, the fastening screw is self-tapping but metric metal screws can also be used. This is a good fastener for lightweight construction because it enables the use of plastic components and reduces weight at the same time.
