Locking lid stay meets water standards

Compliance with standards and regulations is very much an important issue with WPL, based in Waterlooville, Hampshire.

The company specialises in waste water treatment products and highlights its 'High-Performance Aerated Filter' which is supplied to water authorities. To conform with standards the large access covers of the filter are required to be of a maximum weight of 25kg. In addition, a safety grid has to be installed to allow visual inspection, and the lid and grid has to be lockable in the open position with a positive locking stay. Handles are required but must not protrude, and the lid and grid have to be hinged securely. Mike Rogers, Sugatsune, reports that its stainless steel products are being specified - stays, catches, hinges, latches, etc. "The stainless steel positive-locking lid stay is sufficiently strong to need only one component mounted on the right-hand side of the lid thus allowing an operator to support the weight of the lid while releasing the lock. The handles specified are the company's HK-100 folding versions, also made from stainless steel. These units click into the open or closed position so can be tucked away thus eliminating any tripping hazards. Lids and grids are secured with LSB90 stainless steel butt hinges."
