Latch for joining variety of panel thicknesses

The swell latch developed by Savigny Oddie is described by Chris Healey as a one-piece, quick-release fastener for joining a variety of panel thicknesses.

It consists of a nylon handle insert moulded around a zinc alloy threaded stud, neoprene washer, and nylon acorn nut which "take seconds to assemble in the removable panel". Pushing the handle flat causes the washer to swell, captivating the panel to the frame. Pulling the handle upright releases the swelling in the washer enabling the panel to be removed. "The design will accommodate considerable alignment and naturally dampens vibration", says Chris Healey. "It is especially suitable for fixing to tubes or other applications in which a receptacle cannot be fitted to the frame." .
