‘Instant’ adhesives get even more instant

"Generic cyanoacrylates have earned the reputation of being 'instant' adhesives thanks to their ability to be used immediately with little preparation and to cure in very short periods of time", says Mick Beeson, ThreeBond Europe.

Now, the company reports that its TB7700 'Gold' series is takes the process a stage further with 'ultra-fast' curing down to two seconds, very high initial bond strength, and enhanced substrate applicability. "It is expected that all types of industrial user will find that this product is a significant advance over conventional cyanoacrylates." The adhesive is based primarily around ethyl-x-cyanoacrylate technology "reformulated to bond remarkably quickly to a wide range of common materials and provide tensile shear strength frequently in excess of the substrate itself", says Mike Beeson. Suitable substrates include metals, polyethylenes, polycarbonates, nylons, rubbers, papers, and ceramics. Created by ThreeBond in response to the needs of industrial processes to bond parts quickly, TB7700 "deals with varying permeability and can be used without the need for traditional jigging fixtures to hold assemblies". The product is offered in bottles of 20g, 50g, and 500g to suit production and installation requirements. ThreeBond Europe will be exhibiting at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions Show, National Motorcycle Museum, 23 October.
