Flexible anaerobic gasket suits automotive OEMs

Industrial adhesive and sealant manufacturer Three Bond has developed what it terms the next generation anaerobic liquid gasket for the most demanding of automotive sealing applications.

TB1133E offers enhanced cohesive bond strength, elongation and gap-curing over existing types, it is claimed. These characteristics give the user greater confidence in established applications such as gearboxes and cam covers, while opening up uses in sealing of complex areas such as automatic transmissions and transfer cases. Suitable for manual, screen printing or automatic application by robot, Three Bond has developed a specific range of dispensing equipment for automotive OEMs including pumps and valves with de-sensitised wetted parts. The new product is a solvent-free one-component, anaerobic liquid gasket that cures when confined between two metallic surfaces and isolated from oxygen. An elastic gasket is formed within a very short time being completely adapted to the surface structure of the fitting surfaces. The cured gasket is said to exhibit superior chemical resistance and flexibility comparable to that of silicone based gaskets, excellent adhesion to even slightly oily substrates, high temperature resistance and high durability.
