Crystal clear adhesives
New ultra-violet curable liquid crystal display application adhesives have been announced by Dymax, a product partner of the adhere brand at Intertronics.
The range has been specially formulated for applications in which crystal clear invisible bonds are required such as lcd screens, monitors, outdoor kiosks, and navigation systems, reports Peter Swanson, Intertronics. "This range sticks glass to glass, glass to plastic, and plastic to plastic with clear, bubble-free bonds."
Other features highlighted by the company include an excellent resistance to yellowing, increased light transmission, and accurate colour.
Among substrates that can be bonded by these solvent-free laminating adhesives are polycarbonate, glass, acrylics, and phenolics "in seconds upon exposure to ultra-violet light. The ability to 'on-demand cure' means that substrates can be repositioned precisely until parts are ready to be cured", says Peter Swanson. "This provides reduced air entrapment and no bubbles, leading to the creation of strong, ripple-free bonds that help to increase panel strength."
