Conductive epoxy cures at room temperature and fills gaps

1 min read

Elecolit 336 is the latest two component conductive epoxy from bonding specialist Eurobond Adhesives.

The product is solvent free and cures at room temperature to a durable and strong epoxy adhesive. It is silver filled to provide electrical conductivity and can fill gaps, the company claims. The product can be mixed in a 1:1 ratio by weight or volume and has a two hour pot life. It can be processed using either a dispenser, stamp or by screen printing. Being silver filled, Elecolit 336 does not cause drift, migration or galvanic attack in contact with electrolytes as some low cost copper or carbon filled conductive epoxies can. Cold curing at room temperature will take around 16 hours but to speed up production curing can be accelerated by increasing the temperature. For example 2hrs at 50oC to 5 minutes at 150oC to achieve a full cure. The product will be used to connect heat sensitive components to printed circuit boards, attach grounding and shielding and bond wave guides. It will replace metal solder where temperature or convenience in the application is required and can be used as a plating base.
