Coatings for highly stressed automotive components
MGI Coutier, which manufactures and assembles highly stressed parts for the automotive industry wanted to develop a high performing anticorrosion solution, which would withstands the harshest conditions.
After considerable testing, the company selected two coatings to protect its door check straps from NOF Metal Coatings Europe.
Sébastien Leclerc, project manager at MGI Coutier told us why: "We wanted a new coating combining both a strong corrosion and mechanical resistance. The Geomet 321 zinc flake coating with a Geokote topcoat provides us with the compromise sought regarding the preservation of the corrosion performance after the numerous mechanical stresses exerted on parts. From the tests performed, we have selected two options: a black topcoat and a clear topcoat."
Properties adapted for fasteners
The Geokote topcoat is also particularly well adapted for manufacturers and users of fasteners –screws, nuts, tightening clips – by providing them optimal strength and mounting properties. It also prevents the stick-slip effect when tightening.
