The assembly of medical devices puts unusual challenges on manufacturers of products such as catheters, so it is important that new developments are publicly aired at the earliest opportunity.

And for this reason, medical adhesive specialist Intertronics will launch its latest product the Medtec Exhibition to be held at the NEC on April 6 and 7th, 2011. MD Medical Device Adhesive is a tack-free, LED-curable adhesive formulated for fast, on-demand cure with a suitable UVA spot-curing lamp. This adhesive is designed for rapid bonding of a wide variety of plastics typically used in the manufacture of catheters – substrates such as PC, PU, ABS, and PVC. 210-CTH is moisture resistant, cures tack free with light in less than 0.4 seconds, and is ideal for Y-connector assembly, connector-to-tube bonding, and balloon bonding. The product, which is manufactured by Intertronics' sales partner DYMAX, is light-curable and offers a reliable cost-saving assembly solution for catheter manufacturers. It is ISO 10993 approved and formulated to meet the unique assembly challenges associated with the newest catheter materials. Not only is 210-CTH solvent free with excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates, it also has a high degree of flexibility, and ultra-fast cure speeds for consistent, low-stress catheter assembly and is compatible with gamma, EtO, and E-Beam sterilisation.
