Blind side structural fastener offers two-sided strength
The Avbolt structural fastener is a high-strength, tamper-resistant, blind steel product designed for use in automotive, railway, container, construction, and mining applications.
Avdel has announced that it now is available in a 5/8-inch diameter size, joining the existing 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch sizes and 25 different lengths.
"This addition to the range of structural lock-bolts offers the high tensile and shear strength that normally is possible only with a non-blind lock-bolt", says Avdel's Wolfgang Colshorn. "It is suited for use in areas of restricted access and is simple to use with fast, positive, single-sided installation."
Two tools are offered by the company - the 722 for fitting of the 1/4-inch size; the HAT for the 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch sizes. Installation involves placing the fastener into a hole and actuating the trigged of the tool once. The visible lock formed at the top of the collar allows inspection of correct placing.
