Widget award for tapes customer

One of tesa UK's customers has won an industry award for its gaffer tape, otherwise known as tesa 53999.
Flints Theatrical Chandlers, based in London, provides the theatre industry with a single source for specialist theatre hardware and paints, catering for Stage Managers, Production Managers, Workshop Managers, Scenic Artists, Engineers, Carpenters, Painters and Propmakers.
The company received the Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) 2013 Widget of the Year award for its All Black Gaffer Tape, a tesa product the company has stocked for several years.
The product has been especially designed for the arts and entertainment industry and has a superior matt finish. It consists of a PE coated 80 mesh fabric backing coated with a pressure sensitive natural rubber black adhesive. The combination between the very matt surface of the backing and the black adhesive makes the tape good for almost unnoticeable applications on stages.
Award judges praised the gaffer tape with the comment: "This year's widget is a variation on a classic item that has arguably been used at some point on every stage by almost every technician. However, the slight variation to the all black matt gaffer tape means it can be used for all the last minute temporary repair work where standard matt cloth tape would not work. It is another occasion where the widget award goes to a simple 'why has no one done this before?' product. A genuine aid to the working technician."
