Sulzer has acquired PC Cox Group Ltd, headquartered in Newbury, UK.

The acquisition, which was completed on 4 April, has an enterprise value is about GBP 16 million (22 CHF million).

PC Cox is a leading manufacturer of handheld sealant and adhesive dispensers for industrial applications. It sells quality manual, pneumatic, and cordless one- and two-component dispensers for industrial and construction applications under the brand name Cox. The group achieved revenues of GBP 15 million (CHF 20 million) in 2015 and has approximately 170 employees.

Through the complementary acquisition, Sulzer Mixpac—a business unit of the Chemtech division—becomes a leading manufacturer of dispensers for industrial applications. PC Cox's range of products further strengthens Sulzer’s position as a technology leader and enables it to compete globally as a leading solution provider in the area of mixing, dosing and application systems, Sulzer states. Full integration will begin immediately. "All employees of PC Cox will be taken over, assuring ongoing customer dedication and quality commitment," it adds.

In the run-up to the acquisition, PC Cox exhibited at the recent Bond Expo in Stuttgart, Germany, for the 9th year running,. The focus there was on precision dispensing and precise dosing systems. As part of PC Cox’s latest product developments, the new COX Electraflow Plus range offers this form of precise application.

PC Cox launched and demonstrated the first of several dual component applicators that extrude sealant or adhesive material at the same speed, in the exact same amount (+/- 1g – depending on the material) over and over, just by pulling the trigger.

These new products, the Electraflow Plus Dual Drive, are battery/cordless operated applicators, which offer the same features and benefits of the single component tools (launched earlier this year). Further sizes and other ratios guns will be available shortly.
