tesa UK has raced to congratulate Speedsport’s Michael O’Brien for taking the lead in the Historic Formula Ford championship 2017 following a gruelling qualifier at Silverstone.

An impressive start to the season at Donington Park saw Formula Ford graduate and Classic Team Merlyn’s O’Brien achieve a lap record and come within 0.005 seconds of winning. In Round Two, and despite torrential weather conditions, he left Silverstone having achieved his main aim to secure the championship lead.

This success marks another milestone in the well-established partnership tesa enjoys with Silverstone-based Speedsport. A specialist in driver management, Speedsport’s offering extends to corporate hospitality and race car preparation, including the use and supply of tesa adhesive tapes to the motor racing industry.

tesa racing decals feature on Classic Team Merlyn’s racing cars for a second consecutive season. The company also supplies a broad range of protection tapes that Speedsport markets, including tesa 4561, sometimes referred to as ‘race tape’, the most widely used tape in this sector.

Speedsport founder Mike O’Brien and successful British Touring Car champion in the 1980s commented: “For over two decades tesa has helped us to maintain high levels of service and customer satisfaction with its high-end product range, ensuring optimum performance both for our own racing team and the customers we serve.”

Having finished in second place at Silverstone, just 0.3 of a second behind the winner, Michael O’Brien and the team were heading to Cadwell Park on 17 June with their current record for consistency and speed a positive sign for Round Three.
