Quick connector provides second level of security

1 min read

Engineered joining specialist Norma Group has developed a plastic quick connector for use on fuel and Urea systems in passenger, commercial and agriculture vehicles, as well as in heavy equipment. The Normaquick SSL quick connector has a secondary latch for a rapid and easy assembly to an application without the use of a special tool.

The secondary latch serves as an installation aid but also allows service personnel to disassembly the connection quickly. Werner Deggim, CEO of the group: “Our innovative solutions cater to our customers’ needs of enhancing their assembly processes and of making their products even more reliable. The new quick connector is yet another addition to our product portfolio that accommodates our customers’ demands.”

These quick connectors are characterised by a primary click sound when they are installed correctly. The latch cannot be moved into the closed position until the quick connector is installed properly onto the mating spigot. The secondary latch provides an additional level of security.

During installation, the operator has to press the latch to hear another click which verifies the connection. If the connector needs to be disassembled for maintenance and service, the operator can easily disengage the connection by pressing the latch from the same side that the first one has been engaged.

The connector, which will be produced at the group’s St. Clair, Michigan, facility, can be used on both plastic and metal spigots designed to SAE J2044 specification. The product is made of recyclable materials and features extremely low permeation values. It comes standard in 0° and 90° versions but special versions are available upon request.
