Hardware portfolio exhibits antimicrobial properties

Ingersoll Rand has unveiled its ActivClean portfolio of door hardware, made from antimicrobial copper. The portfolio includes locks, push-pull latches, exit devices, pull handles and push plates and is expressly designed for use in hospitals, medical offices and other healthcare facilities. The use of antimicrobial surfaces in these settings has proved a welcome and much-needed tool in the ongoing fight against healthcare-associated infections.

"With CuVerro touch surfaces, ActivClean hardware products proactively protect patients and staff from infectious bacteria," a spokesperson for Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies claimed. "CuVerro antimicrobial copper alloys have been shown to continuously kill bacteria on contact – more than 99.9% of bacteria within two hours." Working with Ingersoll Rand is an equally important step for CuVerro, according to the company's business development director, Peter Gude. "We're very excited for the opportunity to partner with a company of their stature and capabilities," Gude said. "We hope this is just the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial relationship between Ingersoll Rand and CuVerro as both companies move forward in the healthcare field."
