Hard coating provides increases in flim life

A UV-curable, optically clear hard coating from Dymax Corporation is typically used in the manufacture of electronic touch-panels, polarised sunglasses, safety glasses and goggles, and LCD polarised displays.

Optically clear OC-4021 is a coating engineered for superior scratch, abrasion, and chemical resistance and is claimed ideal for use with film substrates such as PET and TAC. It is apparently especially suitable for printing applications that require printing on top of the hard coating. Dymax says it offers good transparency and low haze characteristics, maintaining optical clarity over time for better performance and aesthetics. This 100% solids hard coating is formulated to lower production, shipping, and life-cycle costs while reducing ecological impact. It quickly cures tack free when exposed to UV light, enabling faster processing, fewer defects, and greater output. It also ships with no solvents, reducing freight costs, but can still be mixed with a variety of solvents just before roll or dip coating to obtain a desired coating thickness of 2 to 5 microns. This optical coating is formulated to cure with Dymax's broad-spectrum UV light-curing equipment.
