Compression latch complies with fire resistance standard

Southco has recently added an aluminium version of its successful E3 vise action compression latch, which delivers robust, vibration-resistant fastening, it is claimed.

The aluminium E3 meets the European fire resistance requirement for railway applications and is suitable for a wide variety of industries. It features lightweight construction and provides higher strength and superior cycle life for heavy duty installations. Commonality with existing products allows for simplified installation. The compression latch also complies with European Standard EN45545, which dictates operability requirements for components specified into railway applications. Global product manager Duncan McArdle commented: "Southco is the first to introduce a lightweight, aluminium compression latch that is compliant with EN45545. [It] offers an option to upgrade to a higher strength, corrosion resistant latch compared to latches constructed of zinc alloy and is suitable for use in a variety of transportation applications as well as across numerous other industries."
