Hinges ain't what they used to be!

Hinges made by Cooke Brothers are routinely cycle tested up to 2 million cycles, although this can be infinite, subject to the limitations of the product.

The range of equipment in daily use includes, endurance cycling to BS EN 1935:2002, full door and ancillaries, which includes other ironmongery such as door closers and floor springs. Load cells, testing hinge action and performance, hydraulic load for testing product load carrying capacity and salt spray cabinets testing for product finish and corrosion resistance. To meet its strict specification, the range lid was put through a test starting at 5000 cycles growing to 50,000, equivalent to more than 30 years' service. It passed without the need for adjustment. Hinges have come a long way in the last 140 years. Meet Cooke Brothers at the FAST Exhibition SOUTHWEST, 12th May 2011, Haynes Motor Museum.
