He joined Flexco’s UK subsidiary in 2004, and is responsible for the UK, Ireland, West Africa and Middle East markets. Kaye takes over his new role from Mike Redmond, president of the MHEA since 2013.
A graduate mechanical engineer, Kaye has experience in the gear, printing, process instrumentation and bulk materials handling industries. He has been a member of the MHEA executive for more than five years. “I am delighted to have been appointed as the MHEA’s new president,” he said. “I would like to pay tribute to the outstanding contribution that Mike Redmond has made over the past two years. The MHEA works tirelessly to support the technical and commercial interests of UK and overseas companies supplying and using powder and bulk handling equipment. I am looking forward to making my contribution.”
Meanwhile, John Connolly, managing director of Kingfisher Industrial, has been appointed vice president. Kingfisher supports industry in the fight against the effects of wear and premature failure caused by the handling of bulk solid materials. Having travelled and worked throughout the world in primary manufacturing and process industries, Connolly has encountered the full plethora of industrial experience – from the manufacture and installation of equipment, project engineering through to senior operational and sales responsibilities.
The Materials Handling Engineers’ Association (MHEA) was formed in 1938 by inaugural chairman Frank Lonsdale, director of Fraser Chalmers Engineering – which later became the General Electric Company.
Today, the MHEA offers a number of benefits to its members, including industry-level promotion, networking opportunities, knowledge sharing and best practice, education and professional development and access to technical expertise. It helps generate new business opportunities for its members, enhancing and promoting the public image of the industry within government and other key bodies.
Currently, the MHEA represents members’ interests in industry sectors including animal feed, coal, cement, chemicals, ferrous and non-ferrous metal production, food and drink, grain and derivatives, minerals, mining, offshore oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, plastics and rubbers, ports, quarrying, solid biofuels, water and waste treatment.
