Böllhoff Verbindungstechnik has acquired the entire shareholding of Kingston-upon-Hull based Armstrong Precision Components (APC) from Caparo Engineering in a deal announced on the 26th February 2010.

APC operates a modern automated manufacturing facility covering 35,000 sq ft with a capacity to produce over 70 million inserts per annum. The company manufactures and supplies standard and bespoke ArmaCoil inserts along with related tooling for their installation and employs over 60 people. ArmaCoil Inserts provide positive means for protecting and strengthening all tapped threads and have long been utilised by the leading aircraft, industrial and military equipment manufacturers. The Global market position of Böllhoff will be strengthened by the acquisition of APC who will benefit from the strategic placement of the company within the Böllhoff Group, which will benefit from enhanced joint operations within the UK wire-thread-insert market. Böllhoff's standard range of fasteners consists of more than 42,000 off-the-shelf fasteners made of steel, stainless steel, brass or plastic that can be delivered next day from the warehouse. And house brand ranges include fully automatic assembly machines. The company claims to have invented the blind rivet nut in 1938 and since then the company's Rivnut has undergone continuous development into what is now thought to be Europe's broadest single source product range. Böllhoff is a family-run enterprise, which was founded in 1877 and has become an international group specialising in fastening and assembly technology. The company boasts a network of 41 companies at 32 locations in 21 countries with about 2,000 employees. It also works with agencies in five continents and claims to service all important markets. The company's stated goal is to actively support its customers throughout the entire value-added chain by offering consultation, development and supply services for application-specific fasteners designed for industrial processes and the related assembly processes world-wide. The company's slogan sums up its mission statement: Wir schaffen Verbindungen! - Joining together!
